A little over a year ago, on the front end of their 2016 ADA annual meeting in Denver, Colorado, the American Dental Association hosted their ‘Big Idea’ conference which focused on small dental group practices. The ADA did not hold a ‘Big Idea’ conference at their 2017 ADA annual meeting in Atlanta this year. Perhaps this was due to the low attendance at their annual meeting, but whatever the reason, 2017 came and went without seeing an ADA conference on dental group practice. However, the good news is that the event is back for 2018.
The American Dental Association’s ‘Big Idea’ event will not be attached to their annual meeting. Instead, and for the first time ever, the ADA has chosen to partner with the Academy of Dental Group Practice. The AADGP will be hosting their annual Dental Group Expo at Bally’s in Las Vegas January 31st – February 3rd. The AADGP has been hosting their Dental Group Expo meeting for over 40 years.
The one day ‘Big Idea’ seminar entitled, ‘Discovering Group Practice’ will take place on January 31, 2018, from 9.45 am to 5.00pm. The full day agenda includes sessions that will share best practices for leading, managing and practicing in a successful group dental practice. Speakers and topics include: Allen Schiff on Growth Strategies; Dr. Roger Levin on How to Use Key Performance Indicators; Teresa Duncan on Integrating Systems; and ADA attorneys Jeffrey Fraum and Cathryn Albrecht on Think Like a Lawyer. If you are attending the AADGP dental group expo, consider coming in a day early to attend the ‘Big Idea’ conference. The cost is $150 with five hours of CE credits. After the Big Idea conference, the AADGP has their opening reception with their exhibitors at 6:00 pm.
