The dental industry has always had an enormous number of live meetings and dental trade shows. In the dental group practice corner of the industry, dental support organizations and even emerging dental groups have many choices of niche meetings to attend, as well. The Group Dentistry Now team has attended many of these meetings and covered them throughout the year.

Scaling Up Group Dental Symposium
Held November 9-11, the Scaling Up Group Dental Symposium once again brought together hundreds from the DSO space in an effort to positively impact the dental industry. Started in 2015, Scaling Up was designed to foster communication between dental professionals about the benefits of group dentistry, as well as offering an opportunity to learn from existing large groups.

The ADSO Summit
Now that the dust has settled from the recent ADSO Summit in Las Vegas, Group Dentistry Now thought it would be a good time to review the meeting. In this brief summary we will analyze the meeting and measure it against previous ADSO Summits.

Mastery Company’s SUMMIT & Associate SUMMIT
The Mastery Company holds two emerging group events each year. The newer Associate SUMMIT, held in late September at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort, was a breakthrough event. There isn’t a dental enterprise in the U.S., large or small, that doesn’t have issues with recruiting, onboarding, retaining and increasing the commitment of associate dentists. The future of dentistry lies in the successful introduction of associates into the practice, the culture and the practice team.

Dykema’s 3rd Annual Definitive Conference for DSOs
Dykema conducted their 3rd Annual Definitive Conference for DSOs in Dallas, TX. According to Dykema they had over 170 people register for the event and over 75 DSOs and dental group practices were represented. Attendees also included several large DSOs, private equity firms and dental suppliers. Smaller DSOs and dental group practices were well represented, not only from Texas, but from all over the US. Dykema is a law firm that operates a special DSO division that caters to this growing business model in dentistry.
The event gathered so much interested that the venue was relocated to the Aloft Hotel in Dallas, TX to accommodate the additional attendees. Stratus Dental – A Non-DSO DSO Event
Stratus Dental was ready to learn, lead, and empower attendees to achieve transformational growth for practices, teams, and life. 2016 AADGP Review
The American Academy of Dental Group Practice held their annual Dental Group Expo in Las Vegas. The group expo took place at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel and Casino on February 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Hundreds of dentists and business staff attended the event. Small groups, solo owner dentists, and executives from DSOs attended. In addition, over 100 dental exhibitors filled Bally’s convention hall. According to Dr. Kenneth Sadler, President of the AADGP, this was the largest group of exhibitors the AADGP has ever had.
