DSOs Storm the Windy City

Next week, the largest and arguably the most important dental meeting of the year, will take place at the McCormick Center in Chicago.  The 151st Chicago Midwinter Dental Meeting will be held February 25th, 26th and 27th.

While reviewing the Chicago Midwinter Course Catalog, I could only find one DSO or group practice related course.  There were a couple of classes on the Future of Dentistry, but the only one that mentions group practices (actually they say the dreaded word ‘corporate’), is What is The Future of Dentistry? (F356), hosted by Dr. Charles Blair.  Hopefully, you have your ticket already, because that course is sold out.

While most dentists and staff are attending CE courses, there will be over 630 exhibitors trying to pull dentists and decision makers into their booths.  Scattered among the 630 plus exhibitors are at least 14 dental support organizations.  These DSOs will not only be seeking out dentists who may be interested in selling their practices, but these groups will also be actively recruiting dentists and other staff to become part of their DSO team.  This is not an easy task, as attendance to these trade shows continues to fall.  Many dentists and staff attend CE courses only, and never visit the exhibition floor.  With all that being said, this meeting is still a great opportunity to share the uniqueness and benefits of each dental support organization with dentists and staff.

If you do attend, here is the list of attending DSOs and booth number:
