It was an amazing weekend of connections, sharing ideas, and newfound friendships in Phoenix as The DEO hosted a sold-out house of just under 600 attendees and 10 speakers for The DEO Summer Summit: The Emerging Future of Group Dentistry.

The annual event has grown from a small gathering of just 60 attendees in Seattle to what it has become today — the premier conference of its kind, where the best of the best in the field of dentistry, budding dental-entrepreneurs, and business leaders gathered to network, learn, and share the stories that help the newbies grow and the thought leaders and experienced businesses gain insight.

This year, temperatures soared past the 110 mark as speakers and attendees — including 43 DEO Members — descended upon the JW Marriott Desert Ridge, where The DEO welcomed everyone with an opening reception on Thursday evening.

CEO of the DEO Jake Puhl opened the weekend by offering a warm DEO welcome to attendees, sponsors, and speakers, and introduced the event’s stellar MC, Emmet Scott of Community Dental Partners in Texas, who did an amazing job as the best MC on the DSO conference circuit.

DEO VP of Community Management Dr. Charles Moser’s speech outlined his “tri-deology” of commitment, failure, and belief as the three key building blocks that allow the impossible to become possible. Dr. Moser’s venerable sense of humor lent a lighthearted vibe to the gathering. He and Emmet Scott also performed a dance duet that can only be described as unforgettable.

The DEO continued its longstanding tradition of helping like-minded dentist-entrepreneurs form connections, create lasting bonds, and get the information and support they need to grow successful DSOs and dental practices. The Summit reinforced our mission to lift up dentist-entrepreneurs seeking to achieve their own personal vision of growth and success.

Dr. John Kois of the Kois Center and Dr. Rania Saleh of Oryx Dental Software gave a standout presentation on evidence-based advancements in technology that make it easier to treat patients while simultaneously boosting diagnosis accuracy.

Special recognition goes out to Dykema, Patient Prism, Simplifeye, and CareStack for hosting special Friday receptions for Summit attendees, and Dr. Richard Evangelista of Dentalforce and Margaret McGuckin of i3 Ignite for conducting exclusive DEO Member workshops and giving excellent main-stage presentations.

The DEO would like to extend a special shout-out to DEO Members Dr. Josh Renken, Dr. Suresh Goel, Dr. Robin Reich, and Dr. Tarek Aly for sharing with others how The DEO has helped them grow; Dr. Maryam Beyramian for her stellar presentation on the future of integrating medical and dental healthcare; and to Dr. Lori Noga, Dr. Marc Adelberg, and Scott Guest for their participation in the panel on pitfalls to avoid when growing a group practice, hosted by Dr. Dave Janash.

Thanks to all the participants who made this year’s event one to remember! The DEO looks forward to continuing to help dentist-entrepreneurs grow their practices, gain insight, and make valuable connections in the DSO and group-dentistry space.
