The Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO) will be holding its annual Summit at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center right outside Washington DC in National Harbor, Maryland. This is consistently the gold standard event for the DSO industry. Register now.

The ADSO annual Summit is a commitment to the development of member companies and it provides them a forum for learning and collaboration. ADSO’s Summit is the premier meeting for educational and networking opportunities specifically centered on the DSO business model. Summit attendance has grown every year since the meeting’s inception as C-suite executives from across the US and abroad come together to take advantage of the shared wisdom our members and industry leaders have to offer.

In 2020, for the first time ever, the ADSO will be introducing a Partnering For Growth track with content specifically designed for emerging DSOs and group practices. They will also be introducing a variety of other tracks (see below) to help guide the attendees in making the most of their time by giving them the ability to go straight to the content most pertinent to them.

Calling all Dental Schools! ADSO is always trying to increase connectivity and build relationships in the sector. To that end, we have introduced two new regist…ration options for Summit 2020: Dental School Dean and Dental School Student. Deans and Associate Deans can now register for free and students can sign up at the low price of $150. We would love to see a strong dental school turnout at our annual event, hope to see you there!

Dr. AJ Acierno, CEO, Decision One Dental
Dr. Alan J. Acierno is a practicing dentist and the CEO of DecisionOne Dental Partners, headquartered in Schaumburg, IL. After receiving his D.D.S. from Creighton University, he practiced dentistry in both corporate and private environments, where he discovered the benefits and challenges of each practice. Compelled with a vision to make a difference in the way dentistry is practiced, Dr. A.J., together with his brother and fellow dentist, Dr. Michael Acierno, founded DecisionOne Dental Partners in 2011. Over the past eight years, DecisionOne has grown to 27 dental practices. As the company continues to grow, DecisionOne remains dedicated to the mission of changing the way dentistry is done to improve lives. This growth is a direct result of a focus on patient-centered care as a culture. When you have a culture of being an advocate for your patient, the possibilities are endless.

Dr. Tarek Aly, COO/Co-Owner, Orthodent Management LLC

Tarek practiced Dentistry and Periodontal surgery while simultaneously working in Management and Marketing. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University in Egypt. He has a graduate certificate in Periodontics & Oral Medicine from the same University and a Diploma in Sales & Marketing from the American University in Cairo. He has an MBA from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. Tarek has a CVA certification from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. His expertise includes Dental Support Organizations platform development and management, M&As, Business Valuation, Business Operations, Dental Organizations Management. He has written three publications and currently working on a book addressing Management of the Dental Practice and DSOs. He is currently the Chief Operations Officer/Co-founder of OrthoDent Management LLC (12 dental practice locations) and Modern Smiles (6 dental practice locations), President/Founder of Precision Advisory LLC. Tarek is also a public speaker and competes in Toastmasters International.

Steve Bilt, CEO, Smile Brands Inc.

Steve Bilt is the Chief Executive Officer at Smile Brands Inc. (SBI) and OneSmile, LLC. He co-founded Smile Brands and OneSmile and in 2016 combined the two businesses (collectively “Smile Brands”). Steve was integral in SBI’s three initial platform acquisitions and led the acquisitions of Monarch Dental Corporation and Castle Dental Centers Inc. In addition to these transactions, Steve has overseen the establishment of over 200 de novo practices at Smile Brands and each of the OneSmile platform acquisitions. In addition, Steve is an Executive Board Member and past President of the ADSO.

Mike Cole, Vice President of Insurance, Dental Care Alliance

Mike Cole joined Dental Care Alliance (DCA) in April 1999 and is currently the Vice President of Insurance Plan Management. He oversees insurance relations, DCA’s Membership Plan and the credentialing and delegated credentialing departments. Prior to joining DCA, Mike was a Network Manager for both Prudential Healthcare and UCCI. With over 25 years working in the Dental Industry working for plans as well as Dental Care Alliance. Mike has been instrumental in fostering partnerships between the Plans and DSO’s. Working together to achieve the best outcomes has led to the creation of the NADP credentialing application, NADP supported directory validation process and innovations with patient satisfaction. Mike has been active with NADP for the last eight years and has served on the Operations Workgroup where he is currently the Co-chair. Mike received a Star Award from NADP in 2015 for his work on a standardized dental application. He received the prestigious Don Mayes Leadership Award in 2019 from NADP and was the first non-voting member to be recognized. Mike is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia and is also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).

Vince Dilley, Founder/CEO, Platinum Dental Services

Vince Dilley is the Founder and CEO of Platinum Dental Services. He has a degree in International Business from Utah Valley University. In 2010 Vince acquired a patient reactivation service provider, Platinum Recall. In 2012 he founded Platinum Dental Services, a DSO headquartered in Provo, Utah. Platinum specializes in acquiring and rehabilitating failing dental offices. Since 2012 Platinum has grown to 25 locations in 30 transactions without equity funding. Platinum anticipates growth to $45M a year by the end of 2020 and will continue to add 10+ locations a year using a “sweat equity” approach. Vince maintains an entrepreneurial spirit to scaling the DSO with a passion for cultural leadership and philanthropic efforts. In 2017, he co-founded Light Up Puerto Rico, a humanitarian relief effort to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and recent earthquakes. He also serves as a volunteer for the Haiti Health Initiative dental program. He lived in Puerto Rico for two years on an service mission for his church and speaks fluent Spanish. He lives in Park City, Utah with his wife and three kids.

Jeff Grove, Co-Founder/President, Dynamic Growth Dental Support

Dr. Jeffrey N. Grove, DMD, is the Co-Founder and President of Dynamic Growth Dental Support. He is instrumental in shaping the growth and the culture for the Dynamic Growth organization. Jeff’s passion is leading and mentoring the incredible DG doctors and clinical teams. He believes that if you take care of the team, the team will provide the patients with the best care and patient experience. Jeff began his career upon graduating from dental school in 2004 when he joined his father’s dental practice in Wyomissing, PA. He grew it into DG’s flagship practice, Grove Dental Group and Orthodontics, which continues to serve as the foundation for Dynamic Growth’s patient centric approach, core values and culture. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, Jeff earned his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed externships at the Philadelphia Veterans Hospital and York Hospital Dental Clinic. Jeff continues to support his alma mater, by regularly working with Penn Dental students and educating them on the challenges and opportunities that they will face upon graduation. He was welcomed to Penn Dental Medicine’s Dean’s Council in the Fall of 2018.

Paul Intlekofer, Chief Executive Officer, MMG FUSION

Paul has had a career of helping companies achieve accelerated growth and improved profitability in both the public and private sector. Currently, Paul is the President of SFP Capital, a venture capital firm, and the CEO of MMG Fusion, an all-in-one software system that helps dentists’ manage, market and grow their practices. Prior to that, Paul was EVP, Chief Marketing Officer of Medifast, Inc. (NYSE: MED), where he led all sales, marketing, and customer service driving revenue from $75 to $300 million in three years. Before MED, Paul was CEO of Nutrition 21,Inc. (NASDAQ: NXXI) a nutritional supplement and biotechnology company, where he grew revenues from $10 to $46 million in three years. Paul was also SVP of rdental, LL, an internet start-up in the dental industry which was sold to WebMD. Early on, Paul was a corporate attorney with Venable, LLP. He holds a BA from The Johns Hopkins Univ., in Economics and a JD / MBA from the Univ. of Maryland.

Mike Jettner, CAO Decisionone Dental Partners

Michael Jettner is the CAO of DecisionOne Dental Partners, a DSO based in Schaumburg, Illinois with 32 offices. Michael joined DecisionOne in 2017 after a successful 20+ year career in the restaurant industry that included 15+ years of ownership and an opportunity to lead the national expansion of a full-service casual brand. His leadership and hospitality expertise have been an integral part of DecisionOne’s expansion of its regional footprint through building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with all involved parties- doctors, patients, team members, and vendor partners. Michael’s relentless pursuit of continuous improvement and his dedication to people and hospitality is at the heart of all of his decision making and is a key aspect to his support of DecisionOne’s vision of changing the way dentistry is done to improve lives.

Josh Linetsky, Head of Customer Marketing, Straumann Group

Josh Linetsky is the Head of Customer Marketing at Straumann Group, where he is responsible for developing educational and technology-based tools to support the practice growth and success of Straumann Group customers across North America. Throughout his career, Josh has focused on how disruptive technologies including AI are reshaping dentistry, and how these technologies can create value for dental professionals and their practices.

Dr. Nigel Shaun Matthews, Director of Telehealth/Associate Professor University of North Carolina

Dr. Nigel Shaun Matthews is currently the Director of Telehealth and Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina, Adams School of Dentistry. He was recruited from King’s College Hospital, London in December 2014, where he practiced as a Consultant Surgeon for 11 years. He completed his specialist training at Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland and developed a specific interest in both temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and facial deformity surgery. In 2009, Dr. Matthews established the first true TMJ Multidisciplinary Clinic in the United Kingdom, a model that is now being adopted internationally. Upon arrival at the University of North Carolina, Dr. Matthews established an innovative virtual and real-time inter-disciplinary clinic with pediatric rheumatologists at the University of North Carolina and Duke University Hospital, specifically for the management of TMJ disease in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Dr. Matthews is well-known for his expertise in TMJ disease. In addition to editing the text book entitled “Dislocation of the Temporomandibular Joint: A Guide to Diagnosis and Management”, Dr. Matthews has written several book chapters and over 40 peer reviewed articles on TMJ-related subjects. His lectureship commitments have included delivering international webinars, presentations and courses throughout Europe, North America, Australia, India, Brazil and the Caribbean. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh, as well as a member of the American and European Society of TMJ Surgeons. His work on jaw joint replacement surgery has been extensively cited in several international journals and newspapers, as well as the BBC News. In October 2016, Dr. Matthews was honored by the Barbados government with their Golden Jubilee Award in recognition of his service to the people of Barbados and the United Kingdom, through his work in medicine and surgery. In 2019, Dr. Matthews was invited to be the Medical Honoree for the Arthritis Foundation of North Carolina, in acknowledgement of his clinical work treating children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Maria Melone, Founding Partner, MORR Dental Solutions

When Maria founded MORR Dental Solutions in 2012 with like-minded and experienced CPAs, her business mission was the same as it is today—to help both individual dentists and dental groups navigate the often complex landscape of dental practice transactions and assist clients with all types of transitions.
Maria has an extensive knowledge of the dental industry and brings a wide breadth of skills to the table—particularly in valuation. As a Certified Valuation Analyst, she is an expert in helping clients understand what a dental practice is worth. She determines business value based on tangibles, such as equipment, actual cash flow and profitability. However, she also knows that the value of a practice should be greater than just the worth of the tangibles and that the business climate, market demand, and competition also factor into the equation. Detail-oriented and team-focused, Maria is a confident, effective negotiator with a strong track record of helping her clients close transactions and achieve the best possible outcomes. Prior to founding MORR, Maria worked for American Dental Partners, Inc, in corporate development. During her 10 years with the firm, she facilitated nearly 100 transactions, ranging in size from $50,000 to $90,000,000. In the last 4 and ½ years of her tenure, she served as department director and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the acquisition process, from lead generation to valuation to legal document negotiation and integration. Maria holds a B.A. in Economics from Gettysburg College and a Master’s degree in Accountancy from Bentley College. She received her CPA license in 1998 and became a Certified Valuation Analyst in 2014. Outside of work, Maria enjoys volunteering and serving as a Board Member for Sibling Connections, Inc., an organization that reunites siblings who were separated when placed in the foster care system.

Gary Salman, Chief Executive Officer, Black Talon Security, LLC

Gary has over 27 years of experience in software development and computer IT. He started his career designing software specifically engineered for oral surgeons. He built a sizable company and developed one of the very first “cloud” based practice management system with over 1,000 users logging in on a daily basis.
As CEO of Black Talon Security, Gary oversees the day-to-day activities of the company while developing and maintaining strategic business alliances. Gary regularly leads training and educational workshops on the latest trends in data security, particularly as they relate to the healthcare field.
Gary has also been featured in many local and national publications.

Joe Theismann is an entrepreneur and the former star quarterback for the Washington Redskins. Most recently, he spent the last 2 decades working for ESPN and the NFL Network as an NFL analyst. Joe graduated in 1971 from the University of Notre Dame, where he received AllAmerican honors in both Football and Academics. That same year, he was runner up to Jim Plunket for the Heismann Trophy balloting. Joe chose to begin his career with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League after being drafted by the Miami Dolphins and Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins. A 12-year NFL veteran, Joe played in 163 consecutive games from 1974-1985 for the Washington Redskins and holds Redskin records for passing yardage (25,206), completions (2,044) and attempts (3,602). He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and Pro Bowl MVP leading the Washington Redskins to a 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII. Joe was selected as the NFL’s Man of the Year in 1982 for his community service and dedication to the health and welfare of children. In 1983, he won the league’s Most Valuable Player Award, leading the Redskins to a second consecutive Super Bowl appearance. Joe Theismann’s career ended abruptly in 1985 after sustaining a badly broken leg during a Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants on national television. In 2003, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and in 2013 received the Walter Camp Football Foundation “Distinguished American” Award. With every chapter of his life, Mr. Theismann evolved from athlete to the ultimate businessman. An Emmy award winning analyst, business man and athlete, he utilizes his gifts, talent and high energy to share his strategies for handling unforeseen change.

Dr. Lawrence Wallace, CEO/founder, Larell One Step Denture

Dr Lawrence Wallace is the CEO and founder of the Larell One Step Denture. He is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon with over 25 years of clinical practice. He lectures nationally and internationally on innovative dental care in prosthetics and dental implants. Dr Wallace lectures at many dental schools at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. He demonstrates how prosthetics and dental implant procedures can easily be incorporated into dental practices to increase revenue and grow market share at exponential rates. He is passionate about care for the underserved and has been involved in dental missions worldwide. Dr. Wallace is a consultant to the dental and medical industries for over 18 years, with major Medical Insurance companies as clients including United Healthcare, Cigna, and many Blue Cross Blue Shields. His strong suit is combining practicality with innovation to provide the tools for dentists to expand growth and increase revenue. He brings a combination of clinical and business experience to the real world dental practice of today and tomorrow.

Michael Williamson, Vice President Compliance & Ethics, Pacific Dental Services LLP

Michael Williamson is Vice President, Compliance & Ethics for Pacific Dental Services LLP. He has been a compliance and ethics professional specializing in health care compliance for over 20 years. He is passionate about leveraging organizational values and culture to optimize risk mitigation.
Michael is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the New York Bar. He has five years of law firm experience as a health care law associate. He founded a law practice that specialized in all aspects of health care compliance, served as Assistant General Counsel in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Health & Human Services, and has held Chief Compliance Officer, V.P. of Risk Management and Chief Privacy Officer positions in the private sector where he has successfully designed and implemented ethics and compliance programs rooted in the principles of values-based, self-governance.

Joshua Gwinn, CEO, Hero Practice Services

Mr. Gwinn brings extensive operational experience in dental, orthodontics and vision care to his role as Hero Practice Services Chief Executive Officer. He is keenly focused on patient needs and driving a culture that always puts our patients above all else. After starting his career as an Operation Specialist in the United States Navy, Gwinn spent several years with National Vision Inc. affiliated brands building his skills in all aspects of the optical field including but not limited to: optical dispensing, lab operations, field training, leadership, and Denovo operations. He then shifted focus to the dental field becoming the Regional Director for Great Expressions Dental Centers throughout Michigan and Ohio. Most recently, Josh led operations as well as training and education for a large fleet of Gentle Dental practices in the Pacific Northwest, and California. Gwinn was born and raised in Arkansas in a large, blended family with seven children and feels a deep personal connection to Hero’s mission of expanding care access to underserved children.

Bill Neumann, CEO, Group Dentistry Now
Bill is a dental industry veteran with 15+ years of experience in all facets of the industry. He is a DSO consultant and CEO and partner at Group Dentistry Now & JoinDSO. Bill co-founded the first print publication for DSOs, Efficiency in Group Practice, launched the first app for dental product literature, videos, and information, Dental Sales Pro Connect, founded the first dental industry networking platform, Dental Sales Pro, invented the iBarrier, a disposable infection control sleeve, and managed and trained a sales force for dental manufacturer, Coltene/Whaledent. Bill is an advisor for the ADSO and several other dental companies. He sits on the board of Dental Lifeline Network, serves on the OSAP conference committee, and is an international public speaker on DSO topics at many dental events.

Mitch Olan, Chairman of the Board, Dental Care Alliance

Mitch has over 35 years’ experience in the dental Industry. He started his career in management at ORMCO, the leading manufacturer of Orthodontic supplies. Over the last 26 years he has been with Dental Care Alliance, one of the largest DSO’s in the country. Mitch has overseen the growth of DCA starting as COO, moving to CEO and more recently Executive Chairman. He is one of the founding member of ADSO where he is currently the secretary and membership committee chair.

Dr. Michael Riccobene, CEO, Riccobene Associates
Michael Riccobene, accomplished DDS and passionate advocate for quality patient care, has lived in the North Carolina Research Triangle area for 23 years. After graduating from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1996, he attended UNC Chapel Hill completing his 2 year General Practice/Oral Medicine Residency. In May of 2000, he started his own dental practice, Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry. As a child of Italian immigrants, his parents taught him to “do the right thing, treat people well and always take care of family. These values he’s instilled in the company’s culture and commitment to serve patients with honesty, integrity, and high personal and professional standards. Delivering both general and specialty care, the company includes a team of general dentists, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, prosthodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons and endodontists and voted “Best Dentist” in the Wake and Johnston counties for more than 10 years. Naimish Patel, Co-Founder/CEO, Tru Family Dental

Naimish Patel is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Office of Tru Family Dental. Tru Family Dental, co-founded by Naimish in 2014, is a Dental Support Organization focused on supporting successful neighborhood dental practices that provide lifetime quality care in private practice settings. Tru Family Dental currently supports 20 locations in Michigan and Illinois. Naimish has built an exceptional management team, scalable operating infrastructure and a proven execution strategy to deliver outstanding patient experience and business results. In his capacity as Senior Advisor to Long Point Capital, a middle market leveraged buyout firm, Naimish serves on the Board of Directors of UMA Enterprises. Previously, Naimish was Managing Director of CITG Capital, a private equity firm he established that focused on investing capital on behalf of an entrepreneurial family office. Before joining CITG Capital, Naimish was a Principal at Long Point Capital where he led acquisitions of two successful platform companies. Prior to Long Point Capital, Naimish was an Investment Analyst at Frontenac Company, a Chicago based private equity firm. Naimish began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Merrill Lynch in its New York City office. Naimish received a BBA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan and an MBA with honors from Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University). Personally, Naimish is married and has two teenage sons. He enjoys spending time with them in their various sports activities, travelling the world and sharing teachings from ancient Vedic literatures.

Cheryl Polmatier, VP of Network Development, DentaQuest

Cheryl Polmatier is the Vice President of Network Development at DentaQuest. With fourteen years at DentaQuest, she has increased the growth of contracted networks over the past seven years by 74%. Her focus is in the development of innovative provider network strategies and partnerships for new markets and various dental product segments. Network growth includes formulating high performance networks, creative reimbursement strategies, and value-based models that align my organization and its business partners for growth and financial success, while supporting the company’s mission – To Improve the Oral Health of All. With a deep understanding of government programs, she has worked extensively with state and health plan clients to identify dental network solutions in the evolving arena of public health. Cheryl understands that cost control and the establishment of a robust network don’t have to be competing priorities. Partnering with quality provider groups and establishing growth strategies for products in a market help to align both the provider and the payer for success. In 2019, Cheryl led the achievement of bringing value-based contracting models to DentaQuest Medicaid programs in multiple states, aligning close to 1M Medicaid lives under a value-based contracting model with incentives to help drive reward back to the high quality providers.

Gary Salman, Chief Executive Officer, Black Talon Security, LLC

Gary has over 27 years of experience in software development and computer IT. He started his career designing software specifically engineered for oral surgeons. He built a sizable company and developed one of the very first “cloud” based practice management system with over 1,000 users logging in on a daily basis. As CEO of Black Talon Security, Gary oversees the day-to-day activities of the company while developing and maintaining strategic business alliances. Gary regularly leads training and educational workshops on the latest trends in data security, particularly as they relate to the healthcare field. Gary has also been featured in many local and national publications.

Dr. Michael Scialabba, VP of Clinical Affairs, 42 North Dental

Dr. Michael Scialabba is the Vice President of Clinical Affairs for 42 North Dental, the leading dental service organization in New England. In this role, Dr. Scialabba oversees the clinical excellence of over 240 dentists and specialists, operating across 75 locations and twenty five brands throughout New England and New York. Dr. Scialabba also serves on the Massachusetts Dental Board and is a member of the CDCA as an examiner for the ADEX exam. He is a guest lecturer at SUNY Stony Brook. Dr.Scialabba continues to practice at Great Hill Dental Partners where he has cared for his patients the past 12 years. He has lectured numerous times at the Yankee Dental Congress. Dr. Scialabba has also been awarded the Top Dentist Award by Boston Magazine. Dr. Scialabba is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the Crown Council, American Association of Oral Systemic Health, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Society, and the Massachusetts Dental Society. Dr. Scialabba attended the SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and completed his training through a GPR program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. He completed the American Dental Association’s Dental Practice Management Program through the Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame. He completed his undergraduate degree in Finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and is an active member of the Boston College CEO Club. Dr. Scialabba enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two sons.

Dr. Kyle Stanley, Chief Clinical Officer, Pearl, Inc

Ophir Tanz, Founder & CEO, Pearl, Inc

Prior to founding Pearl to introduce AI to the dental category, Ophir was the founder and CEO of GumGum, an applied computer vision company focused on the media category, that he grew to hundreds of millions in revenue. Prior to this, Ophir was CEO and co-founder of Mojungle.com, a mobile-media sharing platform that was sold to Shozu.com in 2007. Before this, Ophir co-founded and sold Fluidesign, an interactive and branding agency. He holds a BS and MS from Carnegie Mellon University.
