With new and continued support from community members and key sponsors like Global Experience Specialists, Henry Schein, Planmeca USA, Sota Imaging, Western Dental, The Dentists Insurance Company and The Dentists Service Company, CDA Cares is now gearing up for its 13th volunteer dental event April 27-28 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
With some people sleeping outside overnight to get a place in line, the CDA Cares last event was held in Bakersfield at the Kern County Fairgrounds on October 6th and 7th 2017. The CDA Cares 2018 schedule includes the event in Anaheim on April 27th and 28th and another volunteer event in Modesto at the Modesto Centre Plaza on October 26th and 27th.
Each CDA Cares clinic provides dental services at no charge to an average of 2,000 individuals in just two days. They rely on hundreds of volunteers to make it happen. General dentists, oral surgeons, hygienists, assistants, lab techs, physicians, nurses and pharmacists share their clinical skills. Community volunteers register patients and volunteers, help set up, enter treatment data, escort patients, interpret and more.
CDA Cares has a unique clinical approach and philosophy when handling patients during these volunteer events with a goal of relieving pain and infection, understanding the patients immediate needs and what can be accomplished that day. Dental support organization, Western Dental, a longtime supporter of CDA Cares, is committed to the CDA Foundation’s efforts through volunteer dental clinics, contributing $50,000, a volunteer workforce and equipment and supplies for the events.
With a mission to ‘provide access to affordable, high-quality care,’ it’s no surprise that Western Dental remains a top sponsor year after year. Headquartered in Orange, Calif., Western Dental is passionate about supporting these events and is particularly excited for the upcoming CDA Cares event in its neighboring city of Anaheim. With plans for ongoing CDA Cares involvement, the Anaheim clinic is the ninth CDA Cares event that Western Dental has sponsored.
“Western Dental has an almost century-long history of serving the underserved in our now 160 offices located throughout California. We are members of those communities and we feel it’s important to give back,” said John Luther, DDS, chief dental officer of Western Dental. “We’re very excited for CDA Cares in Anaheim, especially since it’s in our own backyard. This one is particularly meaningful to us. So many Californians today are desperately in need of dental care to get out of pain, look for jobs and regain their oral health. This is an opportunity for dentists and their teams to really help those seeking care.”
