Henry Schein has officially released their plans for the highly anticipated DSO Education Forum, taking place May 1-2, 2020 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Last year’s event drew over 700 attendees, from over 165 group practices and DSOs between the US and Canada, and over 4,000 brick & mortar dental practices were represented, making it one of the nation’s largest DSO events of the year.
Henry Schein has assembled an extraordinary lineup of over a dozen speakers (see list below) who will speak within two unique educational tracks:
National & Emerging DSO: Speakers will focus on best practices, scalability as well as legal and regulatory compliance.
Leadership Development: Leadership is 2020! Speakers will focus on leadership principles and best practices to incorporate into your business.
The 2020 Keynote Speaker will be Patrick Lencioni, Founder and President of The Table Group, and renowned business author. Patrick’s passion for organizations and teams is reflected in his writing, speaking and executive consulting. He is the author of eleven best-selling books with over five million copies sold. His capstone book, The Advantage, is the pre-eminent source on organizational health. After sixteen years in print, his classic book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, remains a weekly fixture on national best-seller lists. Released in 2016, The Ideal Team Player is a much-anticipated follow-up to his team book and also a Wall Street Journal best-seller.
National & Emerging DSO Track Speakers:
Dr. Roshan Parikh (or “Dr. Ro” as he is known in the industry) is the Head of Dentistry for Walmart Health. He joined Walmart in 2019 to help develop and roll out a strategic roadmap for their dental services, focusing in particular on dental-medical integration and increasing access to care, offering customers new ways to save money, while living better –and healthier– lives. Dental is part of Walmart Health’s overall investment in health and wellness, and Dr. Ro will refine the long-term strategy to grow their focus in dentistry, working closely with Merchandising and Operations to map their current presence in dental and help build the right organization and approach to best serve their customers. He is a proud graduate from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) – College of Dentistry. In addition to his DDS degree, he also obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Loyola University with dual emphases in finance and marketing. Previously, Dr. Ro grew a single practice into Chicagoland Smile Group, a 20+ network of multi-specialty dental group practices with >75 dentists and dental specialists. He also founded the dental consulting firm DSO Strategy, LLC, helping entrepreneurial dentists strategize a growth plan for their dental group practices and create an investable platform for institutional capital. Dr. Ro is a contributing writer to Group Dentistry Now and sits onGroup Dentistry Now’s Editorial Board. Dr. Ro’s passion lies in building functional and strategically patient-centric business models that help providers to be both first-rate caregivers as well as successful businesses, and he is thrilled at the opportunity to help that philosophy come to light in a nationwide operation as he joins the team at Walmart Health as their Head of Dentistry.
Dr. Sulman Ahmed is the Founder and CEO of DECA Dental. He is instrumental in shaping and overseeing DECA Dental’s growth, strategy and culture. In 2008, Dr. Ahmed opened his first dental office and set out to create a truly patient centered model. His belief in putting patients first is the fundamental backbone of DECA Dental’s core values and patient care delivery model. Ensuring adequate training for doctors, the very best materials being placed in the patient’s mouth, weekend hours and multiple specialists working under one roof are just the beginning of his vision.
Susan Huff is the Chief Integration Officer at MB2 Dental, a Dental Partnership Organization (DPO), and an active and influential member of the dental community with 20 years of rich experience in the dental industry. Susan’s diverse roles working for private practice, a DSO, and MB2 Dental, have led her to her current position, where she’s been instrumental in supporting a new type of offering built for dentists by dentists. Susan has spearheaded MB2’s integration process and team that is responsible for leading the integration of all denovos and acquisitions for the 200 and growing practices that are part of the MB2 family.
Brian Colao is the Director of Dykema’s DSO Industry Group. Brian is the foremost authority in the United States on DSO’s including regulatory and compliance issues, mergers and acquisitions, and all legal best practices concerning DSOs and their affiliated dentists. Brian currently represents DSO’s in all 50 states and 6 Canadian provinces and has been in the dental space for over 25 years. Brian was named a 2019 DSO Influencer by Group Dentistry Now and is a contributing writer to Group Dentistry Now.
Amber Collins is the VP of Operations for Peak Dental Services, which has been recognized as one of Inc. Magazines Top 5000 fastest growing companies for three years in a row. She has been dedicated to the growth of Peak Dental Services since 2009 and has extensive knowledge of operations and the dental field. Her focus has been growing and scaling operations, building a positive culture, training teams by designing, writing, and implementing extensive training programs, as well as building, coaching, and developing teams to support aggressive growth.
Jeffrey D. Tomcsik is co-founder and owner of Tidewater Management Services (TMS), he helped drive a small single location dental practice into a multi-million-dollar fixture in the southern Maryland area with four locations and over $12MM in collections annually. In 2017 he sold TMS to a regional DSO and is currently their VP for the mid-Atlantic region. Mr. Tomcsik is also the co-owner of a six-bedroom sleep testing and treatment center in Southern Maryland.
Dr. Tom Snyder is Senior Director of Practice Transitions for Henry Schein Professional Practice Transitions. He is a nationally known speaker, author, and consultant who has been advising dentists for many years in dental practice transitions, practice valuations and strategic planning. Dr. Snyder received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine and his MBA from The Wharton School, Graduate Division, at the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as a regular columnist for Dental Economics and is on the Editorial Board of Dental Entrepreneur Magazine. Dr. Snyder also writes a bi-monthly column on practice transition topics for the e publication, The Dentist Network. He is also a member of the Faculty at Penn Dental Medicine

Katherine Eitel Belt is known as Dentistry’s Unscripted Communication Coach in the US, Canada, and the UK. Jared Van Ittersum, D.D.S. has been practicing dentistry for twelve years while simultaneously developing and co-owning the multi-state private D.S.O., Infinity Dental Partners, with his business partner Dr. Elias Achey. Founded on the principal of strategic partnerships, Dr. Van Ittersum built his group by surrounding himself with industry experts to help implement the explosive growth strategies he’s experienced in a post-recession era. Since 2018, he and Dr. Achey have been faculty for the Henry Schein Dental Business Institute, teaching upcoming emerging groups the business principals they implemented since 2009 developing their dental group.
Elias Achey, D.M.D. has been practicing dentistry for thirteen years while co-developing Infinity Dental Partners with his business partner Dr. Jared Van Ittersum. As a leader in the organization, Elias trail blazed the creation of a culture within Infinity Dental Partners emphasizing life transformation to create massive vision for every team member, and a purpose-driven team pioneering total health and wellness for all. Less than two years into private practice and in the wake of the 2008 recession, Dr. Achey purchased his first two practices and began implementing the group practice protocols that have made Infinity Dental Partners successful.
